Fears

Fears may be caused by something that is real or imagined that puts you in a heightened state of stress, so that you are ready to deal with the source of that fear, e.g. fear of flying. However, your fears may be irrational or non- specific and this can make you feel even more out of control, giving you a feeling of impending doom.

Phobias

A phobia is an irrational fear where you may experience intense feelings of panic or terror and is usually caused by a situation or object that is really no significant threat to your safety e.g. a fear of insects. Avoidance of the object or situation may make things worse and intensify that fear.
