HOW TO OVERCOME ANXIETY - A CASE STUDY

Serena Werner, 32

I’ve always been an anxious person, even as a kid, and my friends and family are used to reassuring me. But I’m at an age now that I feel I really had to take control as my anxiety was affecting my career, and even my social life.

The horrible thing about my anxiety is that it paralyzes me and makes me want to hide from the world. And then I feel like a loser, because I can’t seem to handle some of the simplest things without a high level of anxiety – like a basic meeting at work, or meeting some new friends in a social situation.

What I found most difficult though, is that I could never figure out what was really causing the anxiety. This is where Alix was brilliant. Because I used to feel anxious over just about anything – it was hard for me to figure out how to tackle the problem. Alix showed me that my anxiety wasn’t caused by certain things, but instead I had deep-rooted issues about anxiety and my subconscious would actually make things up to be anxious about.

By doing the hypnotherapy, I reached a very deep clear state of thinking – I wasn’t ‘out of it’ the way I thought I would be – but more focused than I’ve ever been on my thoughts. What Alix brought up was fascinating – as the youngest child of 4, and the only girl, I was always treated as the baby and any time I’d be frightened or anxious about the littlest thing, the family would fawn over me. I had learned to associate being anxious with receiving love and attention – something that may have worked when I was two, but certainly doesn’t when I’m 32!

With Alix’s help, I was able to reprogram my brain and focus on what really made me feel loved and happy and the constant feelings of anxiety has began to diminish. Ive become more confident now and taking on new challenges that I avoided in the past

It’s not that I never feel anxious – it’s natural to feel anxious about certain things, like a job interview or getting married. But I’ve said goodbye to those constant feelings of anxiety – and feel ready to take on the world!

Alix's comments on controlling anxiety.

Everyone feels anxious at certain points in their life but for some people like Serena it can become uncontrollable and their whole life is compromised.

I use Hypnotherapy to get to the source of the problem and discover what has caused these deep seated fears  – some of which can be irrational and can control our moods on a day to day basis whether we like it or not.

Anxiety can also be caused by a series of negative painful experiences that the client unconsciously keeps referring back to.
By interrupting this old thought process it is possible to change a person’s way of thinking so they can unconsciously focus on their strengths and abilities in a way that builds up confidence and self esteem .

Creative visualization is also used so the client can imagine themselves facing challenges in a new positive way. As the mind is reprogrammed the feelings of anxiety lessen and a person is able to use their talents and abilities to the full.
